Gold Frames

A majority of old gold frames were made up of varying thickness of composition over a wooden structure. Some of these wooden structures were highly carved with little composition or gesso, while others were straight slats of wood with thickly molded composition. Of these, the second group is more common.

Molds can be made from undamaged sections of a frame to duplicate missing or damaged sections.

The gold can then be matched whether the finish is antique or bright.
